The house of Miroslav Svoboda in Mutenice, the Czech Republic, has become a great tourist attraction since he decorated the house with 180,000 wine corks.

Two years back, Mr. Svoboda got this idea of using wine corks to decorate his house and make more appealing. There was circle space on one of the walls that was empty, and he decided to fill it with a drawing, but when he saw his friends did not like this idea, he decided to fill that space with wine corks. Mutenice is a small town located in South Moravian, which is a wine region of the Czech Republic, this is the reason why he was able to get so many wine corks. Unfortunately for him, Miroslav Svoboda is a passionate red wine drinker, and he managed to save his own wine corks, and also got many of them from his neighbors and friends.

The entire process of cleaning the wine corks has been developed by bricklayer and assured his decorative work gets clear in the test of time. At first, he placed the corks in a disinfectant water to remove the smell of wince and killed all the germs that could have resulted in mold. Then he dried those corks in nets made from onion bags and cut them in two equal portions. He fixed every piece of cork into place by hand into different shapes with the help of cement. According to Svoboda his house is very old and there are thick walls everywhere, so did not cover the corks for cushioning, but only for inventive reasons.

Christina Lihan, US based artist makes use of her experience as an architect to make clear models of well-known buildings and urban spaces with paper.

Lihan earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in architecture and she decided to do Masters in the same subject, from Columbia University of New York. She completed her internships in Italy, France and England, but it was monotonous, she saw the same hundred of housing cities built by soviet in Czechoslovakia, which had a different effect on the way she looked at building exteriors. She decided to use the knowledge that she had acquired in the field of art, after completing her studies, she created some impressive models of architecture from paper.

At first Christina Lihan decided to set aside her life to art when she spent her life in Florida, she designed hospitals for some other architect. She got bored and understood that she needed some creative exposure so she started with cutting paper, playing around with it and trying to transform it into models of buildings. It kind of started from there and 300lb, watercolor paper. She draws, cuts and folds each piece with her hand until she arranges them into a proper composition. Lihan begins by taking picture of the site she wants to create a replica, then sketches with charcoal, and finally increases the size of the drawing. She normally keeps the detailed paper pieces over the drawing directly.

Chandrashekhar Chawan, an optometrist from Shekhar Eye Research Center of India was inspired by the jewels in his wife’s teeth and he created diamond encrusted, gold plated contact lenses, which will bring that special shine and twinkle in your eyes.

Raincatch coat looks like a normal plastic bag filled with tubes, but in reality it hides a complicated water purifying system. The collar of the raincoat holds rainwater and then passes it through charcoal filters and chemical purifying mechanism. The water is then stored in pockets all over the shoulders and the person who is wearing the coat can sip the water at any time through the plastic pipes coming out of raincoat.

I would definitely love to have a Raincatch raincoat, so that I can use it when the problem of shortage of drinking water in this world arises.

Maya Pixelskaya is very interested and passionate about movies, video games and art, so she thought of combining all three and making some exceptional designs on her fingernails.

A detailed acknowledgment to classic video game Doom is one of her fingernail paintings, it was all over the internet recently, it spread like virus on most of the social networking sites such as Reddit. Though the art became very popular, but no one mentioned the name of the artist. Luckily a member of Reddit identified her work and he did a good job by linking her website, this is how everyone came to know about Maya’s fingernail art.

Maya Pixelskaya is a 26 year old gril from Madrid, Spain. She loves movies and video games. Whenever she was bored of studying in college, she would find her time pass by actively painting salutes to her favorite movies and video games on her fingernails. Like many other college students, she didn’t like to get stuck in college desks for long time studying, so she started painting her nails beautifully while sitting the class for hours and hours. The beautiful and attractive town of Monsanto, an old establishment settled on the mountain side in countryside of Portugal, increases the most amazing scenes on earth. It includes small streets made from rock and granite houses pushed between gigantic stones, the way it has been done makes us feel like we are seeing a real life Bedrock.

Monsanto was called the most town of Portuguese in Portugal in 1938, which looks weird, determining majority of buildings in Portugal are not crushed between two bedrocks, or have huge rocks dangling on top of hem, but because of its open air museum it has been successful in keeping its outer appearance over all these years. Because to building limitations in the area, the appearance of Monsanto has not changed for all these years and has been able to keep its real beauty.

There are many buildings in Monsanto and all are unique to the place, like huge boulders installed with doors that resulted in living quarters made from steep rock, the small town includes some features of Portuguese architecture, like the church and houses constructed in Manueline format, and others affected by gothic Romanesque. The confined streets just are wide enough that a donkey can walk through or climb up a very steep hill of 400 feet, you can see the ruins of Templar Castle at the top.

This place is located 12 kilometers away from the Idaha-a-Nova municipality and 160 kms from the Salamanca, a Spanish city. Reaching Monsanto by public transportation is not very easy. But it is definitely worth the trouble that you will take when you consider the unique scenes of this small town.

Dortmund, Germany’s Rolf  Buchholz has total 453 rings and studs all over his body, he has been acknowledged by Guinness recently as the most pierced man in the world.

Rolf  Buchholz is a 52 year old computer specialist, he entered the world of piercing eleven years back, and he liked it so much that since then he had 453 piercings in different parts of his body. You may be thinking that he got all those piercings on his face and head, but you would be wrong if you are thinking like that. He has a total of 94 piercing around his lips, 25 around his eyebrows and 8 in his nose and extraordinary 278 piercings in his genital area, and that is really unbelievable. He also loved tattoos, apart from his passion for piercings.

Even with the fact that he has more piercings compared to any other man in the world, Rolf still need to do more if he wants to be the most pierced person in the world, Elaine Davidson is the most pierced woman in the world, she has 7000 piercings throughout her body. Along with many other record holders Rolf has been added to the latest Guinness Book of Records edition, which is available for $28.95.

Chen Chun-hao is an artist well-known as Howard Chen in western, he uses an air compressor, a nail gun and number of other small nails to make wonderful art works.

There are other artists except Chen who have used nails to create beautiful art works. The most well-known person using nail in the art world is Marcus Levine, Saimir Strati and Shannon Larratt have also tried to create artworks using nails. All these artists have hammered the nails into the canvas to crate artworks, but Chen Chun hao makes use of nail gun, this helps his to make use to thousands of metals pins without heads (mosquito nails) for all of his masterpieces. He shoots these nails into white canvas one by one, making reproductions of classic ink paintings of Chinese.

Initially Chen did not use nails, but at first he started with another unique medium, thumbtacks. He used them for more than a decade to create all types of sculptures and installations, from mosaics of billboard size on the building sides to scary dolls and also an installation of 8/8 m on the floor of an art gallery, created from almost 340,000 thumbtack all arranged in a similar direction so that they glittered when people walked by them. According to him it was luck that he moved from thumbtacks to mosquito nails, but he agrees that he has been much more skilled since instead of using bare hands he has been using nail gun.

Chen is a 39 year old artist and spends almost ten hours in a day in his art studio, he shoots lot of nails into he canvas. He has worked with more than 4 million nails since January 2010, he has already changed 25 nails guns and also broken couple of air compressors.

This was taken during a heavy snow storm in Yosemite National Park a few years back. I've never seen it snow so much in Yosemite since taking this photo. It was a great time to see the valley. White, pure and pristine.

Kangkang, a 14-month old Chinese baby was born with a transverse facial cleft, which reaches nearly to his ears. The result is that he looks like he is wearing a mask. Doctors aren’t sure what the cause of the deformity could have been and treatment is very expensive. However, the family has managed to put together the funds to get him the surgery that he needs. Asteroid flying by Earth this weekend, watch it online

Estimated to be the size of a city block, the AM31 asteroid is passing by Earth this weekend. The flying rock, which poses no threat to our planet, will be live-streamed by the Slooh Space Camera website as it hurtles past on Sunday.

Another asteroid is heading our way, a fairly sizable one by all accounts, though you’ll be pleased to know there’s no chance of it actually crashing into our planet. Thanks to the Slooh Space Camera website, however, you’ll have an opportunity to watch this dramatic event this Sunday (July 22).

Named AM31, the rock was first spotted 10 years ago and has been carefully tracked since then.

Astronomers have estimated the asteroid to be 620 meters to 1.4 km (0.4 to 0.8 miles) wide – about the size of a city block, says Universe Today.

With the flying rock hurtling past at a distance of some 5.2 million kilometers (3.2 million miles) – 14 times further than the distance between Earth and the moon – we can rest assured that our usual Sunday routine will pass happily by without any major interruptions from outer space.

It is, however, coming close enough to be classified as an NEO (near-Earth object).

The Slooh Space Camera website is presenting two live-streams, one at 4.30pm PT on Sunday, tracking AM31 from the Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa, and later at 8pm PT, watching from the Prescott Observatory in Arizona.

The streams will be accompanied by real-time analysis from Slooh’s Patrick Paolucci and Astronomy magazine’s Bob Berman.

“The entire astronomical community has reversed its thinking about [near-Earth objects] over the past few decades,” Berman told Universe Today. “Instead of living on an ‘island Earth’ with little or no connection with other celestial objects, we now feel that collisions with comets or asteroids change the evolution of our biosphere, and maybe even seeded our world with the amino acids that started life long ago. In other words, these are important entities.”

“Not to mention, there’s always that exciting little hint of danger,” Berman added.

When this photograph was first published in Africa Geographic, BBC Wildlife, later in Paris Match and the Daily Mail, it resulted in a flurry of e-mails, phone calls and letters from around the world asking if the image was a fake. The image became the most talked about of shark photograph ever. The photograph is real, no photoshop, no digital manipulation, no nothing, in fact it was shot on slide film Fuji Provia 100 using a Nikon F5 Camera and 17-35 mm lens.

This is called The Minister’s House-- the world's largest tree house! It is over 97 feet tall and uses six Oak trees as support. It's got over 11 floors, and is about 10,000 sq ft. It's in Crossville, Tennessee, which means I'm gonna go to Crossville some day! They do give tours. (About 400 people a week visit.) I want take some photos of this thing! (Construction started in 1993, and because people started donating, the total cost so far has been less than $12,000 to the landscape architect/builder, Horace Burges.
